The Cruelty of Perfection
A contemporary dance performance I directed and designed the costume for.
It is based on the aria 'Con Onor Muore', from the opera Madama Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini.
I created a costume able to operate as a set, so it will be the only thing needed for the performance (apart from the performer); this design idea expresses how the character is born and raised within the tradition, and how that fact influences her identity and freedom.
